3rd May, UK
Prince Harry expressed a heartfelt desire for reconciliation with the Royal Family, emphasizing forgiveness and the value of family.
Prince Harry had voiced a wish to reconcile with the royal family, especially his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William. He stressed family and forgiveness and said, “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.”
But Harry admitted that his relationship with King Charles is still tense, saying his father “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.” This is the continuing controversy over the British government’s refusal to provide Harry with taxpayer-funded security, which he lost a bid to appeal.
Buckingham Palace responded: “All of these matters have been considered time and again and carefully by the courts, with the same finding being made on every occasion.”
Following the court decision on Friday, the prince stated: “I can’t envision a situation where I would bring my wife and kids back to the UK now.”
“There have been so many arguments between me and some of my family,” he went on, but had now “forgiven” them.
The prince had wished to reverse security changes made to him in 2020 when he retired as a working royal and relocated to the United States.
Because of these security issues, Harry said that he cannot return safely to the UK with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their son, Archie, and daughter Lilibet. He was sad to say so, adding, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”
“I would love to be reconciled with my family. There’s no use carrying on fighting anymore, life is precious,” Prince Harry said, saying the row over his security had “always been the sticking point.”.
The Court of Appeal rejected the prince’s appeal, which rested on the basis of how an official committee took the decision to withdraw his eligibility for automatic, full-scale protection in accordance with what other senior royals enjoy.
In its ruling on Friday, the court held that Prince Harry had raised “powerful” arguments regarding the degree of threat he and his family are at risk from, but maintained his “sense of grievance” failed to “translate into a legal argument”.
His written complaint focused on a committee known as the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which signs off on security for top royals in the Home Office’s name, and was then headed by Sir Richard Mottram.
According to the rules of the committee, Prince Harry contended, his matter was supposed to have been brought before Ravec’s Risk Management Board (RMB), which would have evaluated the risks to his and family security – but it did not happen.
