Moscow, Russia – On Tuesday, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin publicly blamed the European Union (EU), US President Joe Biden, and Biden’s supporters for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at a session in Moscow, Volodin criticized Western countries for their actions, which he says have escalated tensions and contributed to the crisis in the region.

Volodin stated that the EU’s policies and Biden administration’s support for Ukraine have played a significant role in provoking the conflict. He accused Western leaders of ignoring Russia’s security concerns and pushing NATO expansion closer to Russian borders. According to Volodin, these moves have forced Russia to take necessary actions to protect its national interests.

The State Duma Speaker highlighted the impact of Western economic sanctions on Russia but claimed they have not deterred Russia from its strategic goals. Volodin urged Western nations to reconsider their stance and called for negotiations to achieve peace.

The remarks come amid ongoing military clashes between Russian forces and Ukrainian troops. International efforts to broker ceasefires have so far failed to bring lasting peace. The EU and the United States have continued to support Ukraine with financial aid, military equipment, and diplomatic backing.

Volodin also criticized the media coverage on the conflict, accusing Western outlets of spreading misinformation and bias against Russia. He called on Russian media to present the Russian perspective more clearly to the international community.

In response to Volodin’s comments:

  • EU officials reaffirmed their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and condemned Russia’s military actions.
  • The Biden administration dismissed such accusations as unfounded and reiterated its commitment to assist Ukraine in defending itself.

The conflict in Ukraine has led to thousands of casualties and displaced millions of people. It remains a significant point of tension between Russia and Western countries, with diplomatic relations strained and economic sanctions impacting global markets.

Experts suggest that finding a resolution to the conflict requires constructive dialogue and concessions from all parties involved. The international community continues to call for peace talks and humanitarian aid for those affected.
