On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, German authorities banned the extremist “Kingdom of Germany” group and arrested its leaders, including Peter Fitzek, who declared himself “King Peter I.”
The group, which has around 6,000 members, sought to establish a parallel state and undermine the German democratic order. The raids involved about 800 security personnel and took place across seven states, including Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt accused the group of attempting to “undermine the rule of law” by creating an alternative state and spreading antisemitic conspiracy narratives. Fitzek, a former chef and karate instructor,r was arrested along with the three other suspected ringleaders of the group
