Moscow, Russia – Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin on Tuesday publicly blamed the European Union (EU), US President Joe Biden, and his supporters for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Volodin’s remarks reflect Moscow’s position that Western nations are major contributors to the crisis.

Volodin addressed local media during a press event in Moscow. He stated that the EU’s actions and Biden’s policies have intensified tensions and prolonged the conflict in Ukraine. According to Volodin, the West’s support for Ukraine has undermined peace efforts and escalated the situation.

The State Duma Speaker criticized the EU for imposing sanctions on Russia and for its military and financial aid to Ukraine. He claimed that these measures have exacerbated the conflict and harmed prospects for a diplomatic resolution.

Regarding the United States, Volodin singled out President Joe Biden and his administration. He accused them of encouraging Kyiv to continue fighting rather than negotiating peace. Volodin also blamed Biden’s supporters for backing this approach, which he alleges has led to greater instability in the region.

The conflict in Ukraine began in early 2022 when Russia launched a military operation in the eastern part of the country. Since then, it has caused thousands of casualties and displaced millions. The international community remains divided, with Western nations supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and Russia defending its actions as necessary for its security interests.

Volodin’s comments come amid ongoing international talks aimed at resolving the conflict. However, distrust between Russia and Western countries continues to hinder progress. Experts warn that without mutual concessions, the crisis may persist longer.

The EU has consistently condemned Russia’s military actions and maintains sanctions targeting key sectors of the Russian economy. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has pledged continued support to Ukraine, including military aid and humanitarian assistance.

As tensions remain high, diplomatic efforts focus on finding common ground to end violence and restore stability in the region. Both sides have expressed interest in negotiations but differ significantly on terms and goals.
