Brussels Urges EU to Extend Vital Recovery and Resilience Facility Funding Beyond 2026

The Socialists and Democrats (S&D) group in the European Parliament has called on the European Commission to maintain funding for ongoing projects under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) beyond 2026. The RRF is a key EU instrument designed to support member states in recovering from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The S&Ds emphasize the importance of continuing support for mature and ongoing projects to ensure the success of recovery efforts and long-term resilience.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides financial aid to EU countries to invest in reforms and projects that promote economic growth, job creation, and sustainability. Many projects funded under this facility are still in progress and require continued backing to reach their full potential.

The S&D group insists that abruptly halting funding after 2026 could undermine the progress made so far and weaken the EU’s economic recovery. They urge the Commission to put forward plans that secure the necessary resources to complete these vital initiatives.

This move aligns with the broader objective of ensuring a strong, inclusive, and sustainable recovery across Europe. It highlights the commitment of the European Parliament’s Socialists and Democrats to support the economic future of EU member states.
